Zach and Guy are best of friends, whom both had rough circumstances in the past. Having both been incarcerated, they made it their mission when they came out to be successful entrepreneurs. Meeting each other at a previous job, Guy introduced Zach to the kava bar scene and they both had the idea that they could do something unique and different in the space.

While initially outsiders to the kava community, they capitalized on their differences and desires in what they wanted in a kava bar, and thus Black Klover was born.
